Alex Ferreira’s Olympic men’s freeski halfpipe title was built on timing. After opening with a 49.50, the American stabilized on Run 2 with a 90.50, then delivered the top score of the final in Run 3 with a 93.75 to secure gold.
Henry Sildaru produced the tightest challenge of the contest. His first run score of 24.25 left no margin, but he immediately reset with a 92.75 on Run 2 and followed with a 93.00 on Run 3. It was the highest score posted before Ferreira’s closer and it forced a response at the top end of the judging range.
Brendan Mackay’s bronze was defined by late progression. He sat outside the top group after 37.75 and 53.00, then hit 91.00 on Run 3 to convert a difficult first half into a podium finish. In a final where the top three all needed third run execution to finalize medals, the event reinforced how volatile halfpipe outcomes can be when landing rate, amplitude, and run composition compress scores into the low 90s.
