Bryan and Smith Triumph at Margaret River Pro, Solidify World No. 1 Rankings

The 2025 Western Australia Margaret River Pro concluded with commanding performances from Gabriela Bryan and Jordy Smith, both securing their second Championship Tour (CT) victories of the season and ascending to the top of the world rankings.

Women's Shortboard:

1. Gabriela Bryan (HAW) – 17.33 pts.
2. Caitlin Simmers (USA) – 12.84 pts.
3. Lakey Peterson (USA) – 11.64 pts.

Bryan delivered a near-flawless final, opening with a 9.5 ride followed by a 7.83, establishing an insurmountable lead within the first 10 minutes. This victory marks her second consecutive win at Margaret River, following her maiden CT victory at the same venue in 2024. 

Men's Shortboard:

1. Jordy Smith (RSA) – 12.00 pts.
2. Griffin Colapinto (USA) – 4.83 pts.
3. Crosby Colapinto (USA) – 6.67 pts.

Smith, the 37-year-old veteran, showcased his experience by securing an early 8.5 score in the final, maintaining his lead as conditions slowed. This win, his second of the season, propels him to the top of the men's CT rankings. 

Event Highlights:

• The Margaret River Pro served as the final event before the mid-season cut, determining the surfers who will continue in the latter half of the tour.
• Isabella Nichols (AUS) clinched the inaugural GWM Aussie Treble, awarded to the best performer across the three Australian CT events, earning her a new vehicle and solidifying her position in the top five of the women's rankings.
• The event attracted thousands of spectators to Surfers Point, with attendees enjoying not only world-class surfing but also a festival atmosphere featuring food trucks, merchandise stands, and opportunities to meet the athletes. 

The Championship Tour now moves to Lower Trestles in California, the designated surfing venue for the 2028 Olympics, before culminating with the Finals Day in Fiji.
