Although not yet well known outside her native Japan, Aoi is already a well-established face on the domestic Japanese contest scene, a largely self-contained world with its own constituency and sponsorship mix. Check out her learning Bennett grinds on her improvised rooftop skatepark to see how supportive her family are of her nascent skate career. Aoi’s comeback from 2 slams at Rome 2023 was nothing short of heroic and won her the admiration of the entire crowd as well as her Tour-highest 6th place position there. Has made the semi-finals at each WST tour stop other than that.
