How’s this for rotten luck- Kairi entered every stop of the WST in the Paris Olympic cycle only to have his two worst results back-to-back in the OQS and miss out on the national quota cut for the Games despite having been in and around the podium since 2023. We expected that pain to fuel something spectacular from him on the Road To LA28 and so far it has proven so. He was faultless for a very close 2nd place at WST Kitakyushu 2025, better even than he had been prior to the Paris Games. A 7th at World Championship São Paulo 2025 wasn’t his greatest result but it was his seventh time in a WSTfinal which speaks for itself in terms of his potential.
