Injury Update: Liam Johnson

Injury Update: Liam Johnson

Published Feb 25, 2025

The young American rider, who was recently named to the 2024-25 Hydro Flask U.S. Snowboard Rookie Team, suffered the injury while competing in the prestigious Snow Rodeo competition. While details regarding the severity of the injury remain undisclosed, Johnson’s WSPL ranking will be safeguarded under the FIS Protected Points Protocol.

This protocol allows injured athletes to retain their ranking by freezing their WSPL points from the week of the injury. These points remain unchanged for up to 52 weeks before being reduced by 33% in following years. This ensures Johnson maintains his competitive seeding when he returns to competition.

With no official timeline for his recovery, the snowboarding community will be watching closely for updates on his return.
