Sky Brown Edges Win in Varberg Thriller

Published Aug 03, 2025

The Women’s Park final at the 2025 STU Varberg Pro Tour delivered a dramatic finish, with Great Britain’s Sky Brown narrowly claiming victory over Japan’s Mizuho Hasegawa by just 0.03 points. Spain’s Naia Laso completed the podium in third, marking her first career Pro Tour medal.

Brown posted an 88.80 in her second run, showcasing her signature style and amplitude with tricks like a heelflip indy and frontside 540. The run was enough to hold off a late challenge from Hasegawa, whose final score of 88.77 came just short of snatching gold. It is Brown’s second win of the 2025 season, further solidifying her place among the top contenders ahead of the final stretch of the tour.

Mizuho Hasegawa, one of the breakout performers of the year, delivered her best performance yet. With smooth lines, strong trick variety, and technical consistency, her near-win marks her highest finish on the tour so far and puts her in strong position for a top-three season finish.

Naia Laso’s third-place score of 86.95 marks a breakthrough moment in her Pro Tour career. The young Spaniard impressed with a confident, well-composed run that combined flow and technicality. Her first podium of the year could signal the start of a new contender rising through the ranks.

The event in Varberg was notable for the absence of several top-ranked skaters, including Cocona Hiraki and Sakura Yosozumi, which allowed new names to shine on the podium. With just two Pro Tour stops remaining, the race for the overall title remains wide open.
