Yago Dora and Bettylou Johnson Claim Trestles Pro Titles

Published Jun 16, 2025

The famed cobblestone pointbreak of Lower Trestles delivered perfect conditions and high-performance drama for the latest stop on the WSL Championship Tour. Brazil’s Yago Dora and Hawaii’s Bettylou Sakura Johnson emerged victorious with decisive performances in their respective finals.

Dora’s opening air reverse earned him a near-perfect 9.53, and he never looked back. His 17.90 heat total outpaced Japan’s Kanoa Igarashi, who couldn’t match the Brazilian’s aerial arsenal. Australia’s Jack Robinson rounded out the men’s podium with consistent top-to-bottom surfing.

On the women’s side, Bettylou Sakura Johnson unleashed her signature speed and rail game to score a combined 17.00, holding off a late charge from Molly Picklum. Picklum’s 9.60 semi-final ride was the standout score of the event, but she couldn’t replicate that magic in the final. Caitlin Simmers took third with a solid performance through the event’s earlier rounds.

With this victory, both Dora and Johnson claim their second CT wins of the 2025 season and move up significantly in the rankings as the tour heads to Brazil.
