Results: Kang and Covell Win SLS Takeover Downtown LA

Juni Kang and Chloe Covell were the winners at SLS Championship Tour - Takeover - Downtown LA on April 5, with Kang edging a stacked men’s final and Covell taking clear control of the women’s contest. The Los Angeles stop produced two different storylines on the same day: a men’s final decided by half a point, and a women’s final where Covell created daylight with the top score.

Men’s final: Kang wins by 0.50

Kang finished first in Skateboarding Street Men with 27.50, narrowly ahead of Jagger Eaton on 27.00 and Toa Sasaki on 26.20. The podium was separated by just 1.30 points, which made every scoring run matter deep into the final.

  • 1st – Juni Kang (KOR) – 27.50
  • 2nd – Jagger Eaton (USA) – 27.00
  • 3rd – Toa Sasaki (JPN) – 26.20

Kang’s winning total came from scores of 8.30, 9.50, 8.70 and 9.30 in the final. Eaton stayed right with him through a set of 8.80, 8.90, 9.00 and 9.10 scores, while Sasaki stayed in contention with 8.20, 8.60 and 9.40. That scoring spread shows how tight the final was: Kang had the best total, but there was no room to relax.

Nyjah Huston, the strongest pre-event pick in Wyldata’s prediction data, finished fourth on 17.80. The result made Kang the clear headline on the men’s side, not just because he won, but because he came through in the most competitive final of the event.

Women’s final: Covell stays in front

Covell won Skateboarding Street Women with 22.90, ahead of Daniela Terol on 19.10 and Paige Heyn on 18.20. Unlike the men’s final, the women’s result had a clearer margin at the top, with Covell doing enough to separate herself from the rest of the field.

  • 1st – Chloe Covell (AUS) – 22.90
  • 2nd – Daniela Terol (ESP) – 19.10
  • 3rd – Paige Heyn (USA) – 18.20

Her winning score was built from 7.00, 6.90 and 9.00 in the final, while Terol answered with 6.20, 5.40 and 7.50 for second. Heyn completed the podium with 4.00, 6.70 and 7.50. Covell was also Wyldata’s top prediction on the women’s side, and this time the final result matched that expectation.

Behind the podium, Margielyn Didal placed fourth on 10.80 and Shiloh Catori finished fifth on 7.70. But the main takeaway was Covell’s control of the event: she had the highest women’s score and the clearest winning margin of either final in Downtown LA.

What the Downtown LA stop showed

The Takeover format in Los Angeles delivered both a close men’s battle and a more decisive women’s win. Kang’s 27.50 was enough to survive the pressure from Eaton and Sasaki, while Covell’s 22.90 confirmed her as the standout in the women’s field on the day.

For SLS, that gave the Downtown LA stop a useful early-season shape. One final was decided on fine margins, the other by a leader who landed the strongest score set. Together, those results made this stop a meaningful marker in the 2026 street calendar.
