The Snow League Laax: Eileen Gu and Ryusei Yamada head event winners as inaugural world champions are decided

The Snow League’s Laax finale decided both event podiums and the first overall world titles of the series. In freeski, Eileen Gu and Luke Harrold left Switzerland with both the Laax wins and the inaugural Snow League World Champion crowns. In snowboard, Sara Shimizu and Ryusei Yamada won the event, but the season titles went to Sena Tomita and Yuto Totsuka.

That split is the key result from Laax. Gu and Harrold converted event wins into overall titles, which underlined their control of the freeski standings at the most important stop of the season. Harrold’s win was especially decisive because official reporting stated he finished level on points with Brendan Mackay before taking the title on the most recent result tiebreak.

In snowboard, the finale produced different names on the top step and on the season leaderboard. Shimizu and Yamada delivered the best single event performances in Laax, while Tomita and Totsuka did enough across the full season to secure the inaugural world champion designation. That makes Laax both a results story and a season context story, with event form and title consistency separating into two different outcomes.

The women’s snowboard podium was dominated by Japan, with two of the three spots going to Japanese riders. The men’s snowboard event also reinforced Japan and South Korea as central forces in the halfpipe field, with Yamada, Totsuka and Lee filling the podium. In freeski, Gu’s win added another major title performance to her record, while Harrold’s result marked a major milestone in his progression by closing the season as champion.
